Dear Colleagues,

Lumbar disc disease is an important cause of disabilty affecting millions of people worldwide being a financial an social burden to community, new treatment options and surgical techniques are developed continuosly for management. Full endoscopic surgery is the most exiting and unique innovation combinning the advantages of radical treatment offered by open microscopic surgery, currently the gold standard and the noninvasive and tissue preserving nature of percutenous techniques.

Interlaminar and lateral transforaminal accesses promoted by Ruetten and colleaques among the many endoscopic methods evolving over the course of the last 30 years, are gradually replacing open microscopic surgery. The only hardship associated with this versatile and effective technique is the meticulous work and learning curve involved. We sincerely hope that this workshop, among many other distinguished conventions held on the subject worldwide, will contribute to the improvement of the learning curve. We also hope that this course which is supported by hands on courses with cadavers and live cases will be useful for the attendants. We are looking forward to your hosts in the friendly and historical setting of Istanbul.
